UDETMA's Director in the International Woman Day

The director of the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida Foundation Dr. Pifarré (IRBLleida), Elvira Fernandez, has been commissioned to lead this year's commemoration of the International Day of Women in Lleida. Fernandez claimed "give visibility to women who have been pioneers and get close to the players who have been changes that have made progress in equality."

The director of the IRBLleida regretted the unequal distribution between women and men "of family responsibilities continue restraining labor trajectories of many women." He also reported that all employment discrimination "after a negative impact on the economic benefits for illness, retirement, disability ...".

Advancement of women

Dr. Fernandez has reminded that the progress of women must be collective, "we do not want or can not afford bills among them women, equal rights and opportunities must be universal."

As every year, the administrations of Lleida, Delegation of the Government of Catalonia, Lleida Provincial Council, Regional Government in Lleida University of Lleida, Lleida Municipal Council and County Council of Segrià, have chosen a person and an organization stand out for their work in favor of equality in Lleida.

Dr. Fernandez was accompanied by two representatives of the Interdisciplinary Seminar of Women (SIED) of the University of Lleida in 2016 that is 25 years old, who have read the official statement unique to Catalonia. Also, a group of students from the Conservatory of Lleida has played different music pieces during the event.

The event, organized by a committee made up of representatives of all the institutions of Lleida, is a date to denounce all discrimination still persist in various areas of personal and collective lives of women, to create opinion and commitment to eradicate them. As well as to give visibility to women who have been pioneers and get close to the players who have been changes that have made progress on equality.
